A 23-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after she leapt from a moving train to escape an attempted sexual assault in Telangana, as reported by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday.
Traveling alone in an MMTS train's ladies' coach, she courageously jumped out to avoid the man who allegedly demanded sexual favours, according to her complaint. Currently recovering at Gandhi Hospital, the woman has been promised a transfer to a private hospital by Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who assured swift action to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The GRP has initiated an investigation, forming four teams while examining CCTV footage to ensure a timely capture of the accused. Political figures including BRS leaders are advocating for government support, stressing the urgency of addressing women's safety in public transport.
