The Employee State Insurance (ESI) scheme experienced a robust growth in January 2025, adding 18.19 lakh new employees, according to an official release on Monday. This marks a 2.34% increase compared to the same period last year, a testament to the scheme's expanding reach and impact.
Significantly, young employees aged up to 25 years accounted for 47.66% of the new registrations, as stated by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. The data reflects a positive trend in youth employment, indicating increasing opportunities for young job seekers under the ESI scheme.
The statement also highlighted inclusivity efforts, with 3.65 lakh female employees and 85 transgender individuals enrolling in January. Additionally, 27,805 new establishments were brought under the scheme, extending social security benefits to more workers across various sectors.
