The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a general manager from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and three others, including a private company's general manager, over an alleged Rs 15 lakh bribery case, officials reported Monday.

Ramprit Paswan, NHAI's accused general manager, reportedly demanded the bribe to favor the processing and approval of contract-related bills, according to a CBI statement. In connection with the case, searches yielded approximately Rs 1.18 crore in cash.

The CBI has indicted 12 individuals, including six high-ranking NHAI executives and various private sector figures, as part of the broader investigation. Authorities conducted raids at multiple locations, uncovering a cash stash and substantial incriminating evidence.
