Turkey has expressed its readiness to host potential peace discussions between Ukraine and Russia, aiming for a resolution to the ongoing conflict. The announcement follows a meeting in Ankara between Turkish officials and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Speaking during the anniversary of Russia's invasion, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized a 'result-oriented' approach and noted the importance of voluntary participation from both sides to achieve peace. 'We are ready to support and host talks, as we have before,' Fidan stated.
Although President Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity, discussions continue to navigate security guarantees. Lavrov reiterated Russia's stance, insisting that Ukraine's NATO membership bid remains non-negotiable. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy views Turkey as a key security ally.
