Justice Served: Court Awards RM9 Million to Murder Victim's Family
A Malaysian court has ordered the government and Abdul Razak Baginda to pay over RM9 million to the family of murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu. The 2006 case involved her body being blown up with explosives. Payments must be made within 30 days following the High Court ruling.

In a significant ruling, a Malaysian court has mandated the government and political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda to compensate the family of Altantuya Shaariibuu, a Mongolian murder victim, with over RM9 million. This decision stems from one of Malaysia's most harrowing murder cases dating back to 2006.
Judicial Commissioner M Sumathi of the High Court specified a 30-day timeline for the payment, which includes interest, to the solicitors of Altantuya's father, Shaariibuu Setev. The case involved two former security personnel of Najib Razak, then defense minister, who were convicted for the crime in 2015.
According to local media, Wednesday's payments reflect an earlier High Court judgment. The court has tied the murder to Altantuya's role in a 2002 Malaysian submarine purchase. Allegations against ex-premier Najib Razak for ordering the killing have been made, yet he firmly denies these claims.
