Finnish Court Denies Release of Suspected Oil Tanker
A Finnish court has denied a request to release an oil tanker suspected of damaging an undersea power line and telecommunications cables. The Eagle S tanker, carrying Russian oil, allegedly dragged its anchor across the Baltic Sea, affecting the Finnish-Estonian Estlink 2 power line.
On Friday, a Finnish court rejected the plea to free an oil tanker linked to recent damage to an undersea power line and telecommunications cables.
The Eagle S tanker was seized on December 26 under suspicion of having damaged the Finnish-Estonian Estlink 2 power line and cables after reportedly dragging its anchor across the Baltic Sea.
Representing Caravella LLC FZ, the UAE-based owner of the vessel, a lawyer sought unsuccessfully for the release of both the tanker and its crew.
