On New Year's Eve, the Delhi Police intensified traffic enforcement, issuing over 4,500 challans, marking a 34% increase from the previous year. Special Commissioner Ajay Choudhary highlighted the comprehensive arrangements that led to zero fatal accidents during the celebrations.
Data revealed 558 prosecutions for drunk driving, compared to 416 the previous year. Violations included driving on the wrong side, triple riding, and not wearing helmets. The police used innovative methods, like deploying caricatures, to promote road safety.
With 88 teams using breath analyzers, traffic police set up checkpoints at key locations across Delhi. The push to prevent dangerous driving ensured a safer New Year's celebration in the capital.
