India has named 2025 as the 'Year of Defence Reforms', targeting significant advancements to enhance military capabilities through integrated theatre commands, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced. The plan focuses on tri-services synergy and streamlined procurement processes to transform India's military into a modern technological force.

A key part of the reforms is integrating the Army, Navy, and Air Force into theatre commands to address security challenges in specific regions. The high-level meeting chaired by Singh saw consensus on fostering deeper collaboration, breaking away from inefficiencies, and making optimal use of resources.

The reforms also emphasize emerging technology adoption—like AI, machine learning, and robotics—and aim to strengthen India's position as a defence product exporter, with a focus on industry collaboration and veteran welfare, according to the defence ministry's statement.
