Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra stepped into his new role as the chief of the Indian Air Force's Western Air Command on Wednesday, taking on the crucial task of securing the airspace over the sensitive Ladakh sector and parts of north India.

A distinguished fighter and test pilot, Mishra boasts an impressive flying record with over 3000 hours in the sky, as confirmed by the IAF. He succeeds Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha, who retired after more than 39 years of service.

With a career beginning in 1986, Mishra holds credentials from esteemed institutions like the National Defence Academy and the Royal College of Defence Studies. Celebrated for his service, he has held pivotal roles, including Commanding Officer and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff.
