Odisha Vigilance Department Cracks Down on Corruption in 2024
In 2024, Odisha's vigilance department registered 200 criminal cases and arrested 181 people including government officials for corruption. The crackdown led to the discovery of disproportionate assets worth over Rs 131 crore and resulted in 25 government officials being dismissed from service.

The vigilance department of Odisha has made significant strides in combating corruption in 2024, as per an official statement. A total of 200 criminal cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 181 individuals, among them high-ranking government officials.
The arrest list includes 37 class-I officers, 27 class-II officers, 85 class-III officers, one class-IV employee, alongside other public servants and private individuals. These efforts have led to the unearthing of properties valued over Rs 131 crore connected to disproportionate assets cases.
Furthermore, the department conducted 96 trap operations, apprehending 115 individuals for accepting bribes amounting to Rs 19.25 lakh. Vigorous investigations included searches at over 483 locations and the freezing of 792 bank accounts, achieving an unprecedented disposal rate of 154%.
