Elaborate security measures are in place across Gujarat for New Year celebrations, ensuring safety and preventing untoward incidents. Officials have established check posts particularly at border areas to thwart liquor smuggling, given the state's dry status.
A senior police officer confirmed deploying 6,000 personnel in Ahmedabad, with intensified security at popular city spots. This includes using breath analysers and mobile analyser kits to monitor vehicle movement and substance abuse.
In Vadodara, nearly 250 breathalyser units are in operation against drunk driving. Enhanced security measures are also in border districts like Banaskantha and Arvalli, safeguarding against liquor inflow from neighbouring Rajasthan.
