The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of searches across Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, targeting an illegal arms procurement network. According to a senior officer, the operation focuses on retrieving AK-47 rifle components.

Sleuths from the federal agency are particularly investigating premises in the Kudhni area, related to suspect Devamni Rai. Unaccounted cash and a note-counting machine have surfaced as critical pieces of evidence during the raid. These raids are a part of a broader investigation.

The case stems from a crackdown earlier this year when the Bihar Police nabbed two suspects involved in arms smuggling. Their arrests revealed ties to an arms supplier in Gopalganj, linking back to the current NIA investigation. The NIA officially took over the case on August 5.
