In a significant move to boost international connectivity, China has expanded its visa-free transit policy from 72 or 144 hours to a more accommodating 240 hours. This policy update was announced by the National Immigration Administration of China.
Among the notable changes, 21 additional ports, including the Wuxi Shuofang Airport, have been designated as entry points for transit visa-free travels. This expansion coincides with the growth of Wuxi's aviation facilities, which now operates eight international routes serving cities like Osaka and Singapore, with 22 daily flights on average.
Wuxi's Immigration Inspection Station has reported inspecting over 7,400 flights and 820,000 personnel in 2024, signaling a year-on-year increase.
