West Bengal Tackles Student Funds Fraud with SIT
West Bengal has initiated an SIT to investigate a fraud involving government funds meant for students. Six arrests have been made in connection to the diversion of funds intended for purchasing tablets or mobile phones. The administration is committed to rectifying the issue by providing funds to affected students.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the formation of a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to examine a fraud concerning government funds allocated for students. During a press address at Bagdogra airport, she confirmed the arrest of six individuals associated with the case.
The incident revolves around government funds amounting to Rs 10,000, dispatched to higher secondary students for buying tablets or mobile phones, which were diverted. Allegations pointed out that several students were deprived of these funds due to malpractice.
Banerjee assured the public of her administration's capability in addressing this issue, stating that the arrested group had origins in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, highlighting a widespread issue of such fraudulent groups across other states. Corrective measures to distribute funds to all affected students are underway.
