India has announced its intention to pursue an extradition request with Canada for Arsh Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, following his arrest. Dalla, considered the de-facto chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force, was designated as a terrorist in India in 2023.
In July 2023, the Indian government formally requested the Canadian government to provisionally arrest Dalla, a request that was initially declined. The Ministry of External Affairs, represented by spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, emphasized the importance of Dalla's extradition due to his extensive criminal record in India.
Dalla faces charges in over 50 cases, including murder and terrorist activities. Reports of his arrest, following a media blitz on November 10, have been prominent in Canadian media, and the Ontario Court is set to hear the case. India has provided exhaustive information to Canada about Dalla, maintaining robust diplomatic efforts.
