Delhi Police have apprehended Vikash Bhardwaj, seizing approximately Rs 2 lakh in counterfeit currency from his possession, according to an official statement released on Thursday. Bhardwaj, who has a criminal history involving fake currency cases in Lucknow, was also implicated in an attempt to murder case at Shahbad Dairy police station in Delhi.

Police received a tip-off on Wednesday indicating that a member of a counterfeiting network would be at the bus stand near the SDM office in Naya Bans, north-west Delhi, to distribute a sizeable amount of fraudulent currency. Acting on this information, the police swiftly formed a team to apprehend the suspect.

Bhardwaj was caught at the designated location, and a search of his belongings revealed 399 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination. He has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to unravel the broader operations of the fake currency racket.
