Former BRS MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah appeared before the Hyderabad police on Thursday in connection with an ongoing phone-tapping investigation. He was summoned earlier, but due to health concerns, his appearance was postponed from November 11 to November 14.
Lingaiah, after the questioning session, clarified to the media that he had communicated with the police as required and was ready to cooperate with future requests. His involvement marks the first time a non-police official has been summoned in this case.
Notably, the investigation has led to the arrest of four officials for allegedly deleting intelligence data and engaging in phone tapping. The former head of Telangana's SIB is among those absconding, with suspicions they might be in the U.S. Police allege profiles of hundreds were illegally created, with phone calls intercepted, including those of significant political figures and a High Court judge.
