Russian forces are making strategic advancements on the outskirts of Kupiansk, a vital city in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region. The information was confirmed by Vitaly Ganchev, a Moscow-installed official, in a statement to Russian news agencies.
Kupiansk initially fell to Russian troops during the early stages of Moscow's so-called 'special military operation' in Ukraine, which commenced in February 2022. However, it was later reclaimed by Ukrainian forces in a counter-offensive campaign.
Recently, the region has experienced a surge in military activity by Russian forces, further escalating tensions in this ongoing conflict.
