Violence in Port-au-Prince: MSF Ambulance Attack Raises Alarms
In Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, an MSF ambulance was attacked, leading to the deaths of at least two patients. The incident involved a vigilante group and law enforcement, culminating in violence against MSF staff and hindering their capability to provide medical help.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported a tragic incident in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where at least two patients were killed following an attack on their ambulance this week.
The assault occurred Monday when a group of vigilantes and law enforcement stopped the ambulance carrying three gunshot victims near the MSF hospital in the Drouillard area. They transferred the patients to a public hospital against MSF protocols, MSF noted.
As the ambulance was being escorted, police and vigilantes impaired the vehicle, culminating in the tragic executions. MSF's mission chief, Christophe Garnier, condemned the violence, emphasizing the threat to essential healthcare services in Haiti.
