The trial of British teenager Axel Rudakubana, accused of murdering three young girls and numerous attempted murders in a shocking knife attack in Southport, is set to begin in January. The crime, which unfolded during a Taylor Swift dance event, captured the nation's attention and led to widespread unrest.

Eighteen-year-old Rudakubana, who was charged with producing ricin and possessing an al Qaeda manual, appeared via videolink at Liverpool Crown Court, where he maintained silence regarding his identity. His trial, scheduled for January, is expected to last four to six weeks.

In the aftermath of the attack, nationwide riots ensued due to misinformation spread on social media. Prime Minister Keir Starmer attributed the violence to far-right elements. Prosecutor Deanna Heer clarified that the incident was not related to terrorism.
