A Delhi court has made significant progress in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, focusing on the alleged involvement of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler. This week, testimonies were heard, including a compelling account from Lakhwinder Kaur, the widow of one of the victims, Badal Singh.
Kaur provided a detailed recollection based on an eyewitness account from Surender Singh, a Granthi in the affected Gurdwara. She testified that Singh saw Tytler incite a mob that brutally attacked her husband, ultimately leading to his death and the burning of his body. The court proceedings continue, aiming to bring justice to the victims and their families.
Charges against Tytler include murder, abetment, rioting, and promoting enmity among groups. Despite being on bail, Tytler faces a serious investigation, with additional testimonies expected to shed light on his alleged role. The next hearing is scheduled for November 23, with further statements anticipated.
