In a recent committee meeting on Welfare of Other Backward Classes, opposition members raised concerns over the challenges OBC candidates face in verifying their creamy layer status for civil services.

During the briefing by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, MPs, including Manickam Tagore, questioned the stagnant income ceiling used as a barrier for many young candidates.

Tagore highlighted the issue in a letter to Prime Minister Modi, stressing the financial ceiling's lack of adjustment since 2017, causing exclusionary hurdles for deserving candidates.
