In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise check at the Mahila Police Station in Bharatpur on Tuesday. The raid uncovered a suspicious cash amounting to Rs 4.54 lakh. The cash was found meticulously concealed in 15 envelopes within various files, according to a senior officer's statement.
The raid did not just end at the police station. An additional Rs 1 lakh was unearthed during a search at the government residence of the station officer, Sub Inspector Bhanwar Singh. This follows allegations that Singh and his associate, Constable Jai Singh, had accepted considerable bribes, detailed Director General Ravi Prakash Meharda.
With Rs 1.17 lakh recovered from Singh's residence and the investigation still ongoing, the ACB is working meticulously to uncover the full extent of corruption within the station. Director General Meharda noted that these findings highlight significant corruption issues, with further investigative steps underway.
