The Brampton Triveni Temple in Canada has canceled a consular event after Canadian police cited an 'extremely high and imminent' threat level of violent protests. The Life Certificate event, organized by the Consulate General of India, Toronto, was slated for November 17 at the temple grounds.
In response to official intelligence from Peel Regional Police indicating a high threat of protests, temple authorities decided to cancel to ensure the safety of the community. This comes amid growing concerns among Canadians about their safety in Hindu temples.
After the altercation last week involving protestors carrying Khalistani flags, Peel Regional Police clarified that they've not received direct threats but have heightened security measures. Both community leaders and the Indian consulate are collaborating to reduce tensions and ensure public safety.
