A significant arrest has been made in Punjab's Mansa district after a grenade attack at a petrol pump last month. The suspect, Shimla Singh, was detained by police, according to a statement released on Tuesday. The capture is said to be on the orders of a notorious gangster-turned-terrorist, Arsh Dalla.
The incident took place at a petrol station on Sirsa Road during the night of October 26-27, when a grenade was allegedly thrown. Days following the attack, the petrol pump owner received a threatening phone call from an international number, with the caller demanding Rs 5 crore and taking responsibility for the attack.
Police sources revealed that Singh, who confessed to his role, also provided logistical support to shooters involved in a high-profile murder case. An investigation team has been formed to further probe the conspiracy surrounding the attack.
