A major development unfolds in Rayagada district with the court issuing non-bailable warrants against six suspects in the 14-year-old murder case of tribal leader Bhagirathi Mandangi. Among those charged is N Bhaskar Rao, a former BJD Rajya Sabha MP.
The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate's decision comes after a petition from Mandangi's brother and is informed by evidence and witness testimonies. Mandangi's body was discovered in Andhra Pradesh under suspicious circumstances back in December 2010.
The Zilla Adivasi Mahasangha has long advocated for a CBI investigation, asserting police bias due to political connections. As justice seems within reach, the Mahasangha and Mandangi's family remain hopeful for resolution.
