Tensions Rise Over Israel's Construction Along Golan Heights

The United Nations issued a warning on Tuesday about severe violations of a cease-fire agreement by the Israeli military as major construction projects unfold along the Alpha Line, separating Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Syria.
Sparking intense scrutiny, these statements from the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) emerged following an Associated Press report featuring satellite images of Israeli construction activities across the border. UNDOF, which has been patrolling the area since 1974, criticized the activities as potential provocations that could heighten regional tensions.
The Israeli military, which did not comment, claims these works are defensive, aimed at preventing unauthorized crossings. In a similar context, Syria has accused Israel of launching attacks from occupied territories in the Golan Heights, a contention point since Israel's 1967 seizure of the land.
