A student, identified as Amit Kumar Bind, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a local court for securing admission to the MBBS programme at Motilal Nehru Medical College with a fake Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate.
The deception came to light when Vijay Bahadur alias Vishram lodged a complaint against Bind in June 2018, prompting an investigation that resulted in the revocation of his admission.
After a thorough judicial process, where arguments from both sides were considered, the court found Bind guilty and imposed an additional fine of Rs 11,000. The case was heard by Chief Judicial Magistrate Sabiha Khatoon.
