The Ladakh Police have achieved a major breakthrough, solving a gruesome quadruple murder case that stumped authorities for over 26 years. Three suspects were apprehended in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing closure to a crime that dates back to 1998.
The case was reopened in 2012 following the discovery of skeletal remains near the Kanital Glacier, confirmed to belong to two of the victims. With new evidence, charges of murder and robbery were applied, under sections 302 and 382 of the Ranbir Penal Code.
After a relentless manhunt, police arrested the suspects who confessed to the crime, leading officers to the remote crime scene. Key evidence was recovered, finally shedding light on a case motivated by robbery, where the victims were killed for carrying substantial cash.
