A Raipur lawyer, Faizan Khan, was taken into custody by Mumbai police on Tuesday for allegedly issuing a death threat to Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan while demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.
The arrest followed the discovery that the ominous call was linked to Khan through a phone number registered in his name, after Bandra police received the threat on November 5.
In defense, Khan insisted his phone was stolen, labelling the call a ploy against him. Meanwhile, authorities are pursuing additional inquiries and plan to present Khan before a Raipur court for transit remand.
