Ex-ONGC Manager Convicted for Illicit Wealth

A former ONGC manager has been sentenced to three years in prison by a special CBI court in Ahmedabad for accumulating illicit wealth far beyond his income, officials report.
Kishanram Hiralal Sonkar, the convicted manager, has also been fined Rs 25 lakh following an extended trial process.
The CBI initiated an investigation against Sonkar in 2006, uncovering illegal assets amounting to Rs 22.15 lakh, which were significantly above his known income sources.
