The government has decided to extend the tenure of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. According to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on Monday, Misri will remain in his position until July 14, 2026.
Misri, who is a member of the 1989 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, took charge as India's Foreign Secretary on July 15.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet sanctioned the extension of Misri's term beyond his expected superannuation date of November 30. This decision aligns with FR 56 (d) provisions that allow such extensions due to public interest, officials confirmed.
