A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has greenlit projects totaling Rs 725.62 crore for upgrading fire services in three Indian states. The dedicated funding will aid Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal in enhancing their disaster management capabilities.
The approved package allocates Rs 376.76 crore to West Bengal, Rs 201.10 crore to Odisha, and Rs 147.76 crore to Chhattisgarh. The committee, comprising eminent figures such as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, underlines the government's commitment to modernizing critical infrastructure.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a disaster-resilient India, the Ministry of Home Affairs, guided by Amit Shah, continues to propel initiatives that minimize disaster impacts. As part of a nationwide effort, the central government has earmarked Rs 5,000 crore through the National Disaster Response Fund for broader state-level enhancements.
