The Bombay High Court on Monday granted medical bail to Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways, who faces money laundering charges.

Initially, Justice N J Jamadar provided interim bail to Goyal in May 2023 for cancer treatment, which has now been made permanent. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed his bail plea, suggesting hospital treatment could be managed in custody.

Goyal's interim bail, initially for two months, was extended before becoming permanent. The ED arrested him in September 2023 over alleged financial misconduct involving Rs 538.62 crore from Canara Bank. His wife, Anita Goyal, was also detained, but later released due to health reasons before her death in May.
