Armed men from the hills launched a series of coordinated attacks in Lamlai assembly constituency, located in Manipur's Imphal East district, on Sunday. Police reported gunfire and bombings in the area.
Security forces, comprising the Army, BSF, and police, swiftly responded, resulting in an intense clash at Sanasabi, Sabungkhok Khunou, and Thamnapokpi, according to officials on the scene.
The hostilities have heightened tension in nearby villages, putting farmers in jeopardy as they are unable to access their paddy fields due to the gunfire from elevated positions targeting the low-lying areas of Sanasabi. Authorities have bolstered security to prevent any further escalation.
