QR Code Scam Uncovered at Aizawl Petrol Pump

A 23-year-old man named H. Lalrohlua was arrested for replacing a QR code sticker at a petrol pump in Aizawl to steal money via digital transactions. The accused admitted to printing his own QR code and collecting Rs 2,315 from unsuspecting customers.

A man was apprehended on Sunday after a scheme to steal money by replacing a QR code at a petrol pump in Aizawl was unveiled, according to police sources.

The suspect, H. Lalrohlua, residing in Aizawl's Armed Veng locality, allegedly placed his own QR code over the legitimate one at Mizofed's petrol station, misleading customers.

The police initiated a probe following a complaint from the petrol station's manager. Lalrohlua confessed to receiving a total of Rs 2,315 through fraudulent transactions, out of which Rs 890 was refunded to one victim.
