Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport became the scene of a significant gold smuggling interception on Sunday, as the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 3.35 kg of gold valued at Rs 2.67 crore.

Following a tip-off, DRI officials detained a woman customer service executive and a ground handling staff member linked to Celebi NAS Airport Service. The duo was involved in smuggling gold out of the airport.

The woman was caught at the airport's exit gate with gold in paste form, while her accomplice fetched the illicit material from a waste cart. Both were arrested under the Customs Act.
