Authorities in Ranga Reddy district have detained a man suspected of vandalizing an idol at a temple in Shamshabad. The arrest follows an incident where the accused reportedly removed ornaments from the idol, inciting local protests demanding accountability.
This incident is one of several reported acts of temple desecration in recent months. Police confirmed that Navagraha idols in another Shamshabad temple were damaged on November 5, leading to the suspect's detention.
Similarly, an idol desecration on October 13-14 at the Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad triggered significant protests from the community and Hindu organizations. Police have linked a 30-year-old man from Maharashtra to both the Secunderabad and Mumbai incidents, resulting in his arrest.
