Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu is set to urge an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution of the Israel-Palestinian conflict at the upcoming Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, as communicated by his office on Saturday. Tinubu's intervention at the summit emphasizes Nigeria's commitment to advocating for peace and stability in a challenging geopolitical climate.
The Nigerian administration is keen on reviving the two-state solution as a viable pathway to lasting peace in the Middle East, according to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. The annual summit, scheduled to commence on November 11, is hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with Nigeria participating as a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Amid ongoing battles with Islamist insurgents in Nigeria's northeast, President Tinubu will be backed by an entourage of key government figures, including ministers of foreign affairs and information, his national security adviser, and the head of the security intelligence agency, adding weight to Nigeria's diplomatic presence in Riyadh.
