A tragic discovery was made in Jorabagan, north Kolkata, as the lifeless body of Abhijit Bandyopadhyay, a 58-year-old man, was found with injury marks. Police have launched an investigation indicating a suspected murder.
The alarming incident occurred late Wednesday night. Bandyopadhyay, known to reside alone, was last seen around 10 pm. Residents were shocked to find the body the following day in an old building on Sen Lane.
Initial police findings suggest the death took place between 10 pm and 11:30 pm. While the front door of the residence was bolted from the inside, an open backdoor and blood stains on the wall have intrigued investigators.
