The Chinese military announced on Thursday that its troops and Indian counterparts are making strides in implementing their agreement to disengage at friction points along the eastern Ladakh border. However, Chinese officials refrained from confirming reports of completed disengagement at the Demchok and Depsang Plains.

Col Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defence, addressed the media for the first time since the October 21 disengagement agreement. He emphasized that resolutions concerning border issues have been reached through diplomatic and military channels.

This development comes after President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting facilitated by the BRICS summit, highlighting both nations' commitment to resolving differences and ensuring the bilateral relationship remains stable.
