In a gesture symbolizing renewed diplomatic ties, Indian and Chinese troops celebrated Diwali by exchanging sweets along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Army sources confirmed the tradition, marking a peaceful moment in the historically tense border region.
The exchange occurred along five Border Personnel Meeting points, one day after both nations completed troop disengagement at Demchok and Depsang Plains in eastern Ladakh. This step signifies a thaw in relations as troops now prepare for resumed patrolling routines.
Negotiations between India and China culminated in an agreement detailing the modalities of patrolling and disengagement, according to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. This development hopes to resolve tensions that have persisted since 2020, fostering improved communication and cooperation.
