A deadly fire broke out at a chemical factory in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday afternoon, claiming one life and injuring seven others, according to local police.
The incident occurred when a blast erupted inside the factory's oil tankers, inflaming the situation due to combustible materials. Authorities managed to extract several individuals from the site, but one person succumbed, while three remain in critical condition. The deceased was identified as Biswanath Basu.
Efforts by the fire department, with initial help from local residents, have brought the blaze under control. Meanwhile, the investigation continues to determine the cause of the fire, officials stated.
