In Malappuram district, a significant crackdown has been initiated as authorities seized Rs 16 lakhs in unaccounted cash and banned narcotics valued at Rs 1.16 lakh. The efforts come as part of pre-election raids ahead of the Wayanad Lok Sabha elections on November 13.
Vying for electoral success in the region are Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, CPI's Sathyan Mokeri, and BJP's Navya Haridas. The district includes critical segments such as Eranad, Vandoor, and Nilambur.
Various squads, including nine flying squads and 27 static surveillance teams, have been deployed to enforce a strict model code of conduct and mitigate illegal influences like money and drugs, ensuring a transparent voting process.
