A Kerala court has sentenced a 68-year-old man to two life terms for repeatedly sexually assaulting the minor granddaughters of the woman he was living with, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The sentence was delivered by Fast Track Special Court judge Rekha R, who highlighted the horrific nature of the crimes committed against the six-year-old victim and her nine-year-old sister over a year at their grandmother's rented homes.

The court described the impact on the victims, stating their childhood was 'shattered', with their mother being abroad and their lives now in institutional care. The convict also showed the children pornographic material during this period, further exacerbating the trauma.
