The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has proactively registered a case concerning a fire accident at a temple in Kasaragod, which resulted in 154 injuries. Commission member K Byjunath has requested a report from the district collector and the police chief to be submitted within a fortnight, according to an official statement.

The regrettable incident occurred during a Theyyam performance when firecrackers exploded at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple near Neeleswaram. Kasaragod police chief D Shilpa has established a Special Investigation Team to delve into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The district administration has mandated the additional divisional magistrate to conduct a separate inquiry, with the findings to be presented soon. Currently, three individuals, including members of the temple committee, have been arrested in connection with the case.
