The Delhi High Court has instructed the AAP government to promptly submit a status report concerning the Advocates Protection Bill. This legislative measure is designed to create a safer environment for legal professionals.

Presiding over the case, Justice Sanjeev Narula mandated the report to be filed within two weeks. The hearing date was advanced from February 5, 2025, to December 16, 2024.

The court's decision follows a plea from advocates Deepa Joseph and Alpha Phiris Dayal, highlighting the escalating violence against lawyers. The plea underscored the necessity for legislative action to ensure the protection of the legal fraternity.
