Keshav Chandra Takes Helm at NDMC
Keshav Chandra, a senior IAS officer, has been appointed as the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). The appointment fills a vacancy left by Naresh Kumar. The council consists of official, non-official, and elected members, with some positions still unfilled.

Keshav Chandra, a senior IAS officer of the 1995 batch from the AGMUT cadre, has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), as per the Ministry of Home Affairs' directive. Previously, Chandra held the position of Chief Secretary for the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Chandra's appointment comes after a vacancy was created following the retirement of former NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar on August 31. During the interim period, Ashwani Kumar, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), was charged with handling NDMC responsibilities as the link officer.
The New Delhi Municipal Council, consisting of official, non-official, and elected members, appoints members through nominations from the Ministry of Home Affairs for five-year terms. Currently, all but one official member positions are filled even as non-official designations remain vacant.
