In a heated session, the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf Amendment Bill conceded to opposition demands to hear the Delhi government's perspective following protests against the Delhi Waqf Board's presentation.
The uproar focused on the appointment of Ashwini Kumar, a non-Muslim, as the administrator, which opposition members argued was against the law. BJP members disputed this by citing precedents.
Amidst the discord, committee chairman Jagdambika Pal promised to include the Delhi government's views. Previous meetings witnessed similar tensions, with accusations of unfair invitations and opposition allegations of procedural biases.
