In a significant development for Vijayapura district farmers, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has confirmed that no eviction will occur over alleged Waqf property claims on their lands.

Following meetings with key ministers, a decision was taken to withdraw any eviction notices issued to the farmers. This assurance comes amid rising tensions and allegations that an error in a gazette notification mistakenly marked large tracts of agricultural land as Waqf property.

The issue is not limited to Vijayapura, as similar concerns have been reported in Yadgir and Dharwad districts. The Revenue Minister has been tasked with addressing these concerns, and a task force led by the Deputy Commissioner will be established to rectify the situation.
